Greetings Saints!

It’s back to school time! For those living in Seminole County, school has already begun. For King of Kings and Orange County, school starts Monday. For college students, most still have a couple more weeks before their semester begins.

Here at King of Kings, everything is primed and ready for school to begin. Sunday is our Back-to-School service and dinner. Our worship service highlights the value of Christian Education. Bibles are handed out to our 3rd graders. Then, after the service, there is a potluck dinner (please bring a main dish to pass and a side).

At Sunday’s Annual Voters Meeting, the sanctuary flooring project was approved. It includes both carpeting and tile, matching what is already existing. We are budgeting $16,000 for the entire project. Based on what is already given and pledged, we are approximately three-quarters of the way there. We hope to have the money by the end of the month so that work can be completed before our 50thAnniversary celebration 10/8/17.

Finally, our next fellowship outing August 26. It is an Orlando City soccer game against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Game time is 7:30. Tickets are $25. A sign-up sheet is posted in the church entryway.

That’s it for this week. Now, here is today’s devotion:

God has a Special Plan for YOU!

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you. … Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:13-18, 23-24

Your life and mine is not some random stroke of chance brought about by evolution. God personally knit you and me together in our mothers’ womb. The end result is something fantastic, unique, and special. And even more special than that, through the waters of baptism, God the Holy Spirit brought us to believe in Jesus as Savior.  He cleansed us of all our sins by covering our unrighteousness with Jesus’ perfection.

As a special creation of God, God reminds us that he knows the exact amount of days we will live on this earth. During your life God has a specific plan mapped out just for YOU. When you stray from the plan, God pulls you back. And when you stray again, and again, and again from the plan, God does not leave you. He stays with you, and he uses his word to correct you and comfort you and mold you into the person he has freed you to be through Jesus Christ, the one who was raised from the dead so that you could live a contented, Spirit-minded life.

May each of us make David’s prayer our prayer: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to treasure the physical life you have given to me as a gift. Even more so, help me to treasure the spiritual and eternal life you give to me as a gift through faith in Christ Jesus. Amen.
